“RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix is manufactured using 97.5% recycled materials which makes it one of the most sustainable pothole repair mixes on the market.”

Our products have been in the ground now for over 24 months and have been regularly checked on through this time. We would like to thank all those involved in the initial trial and subsequent follow up checks. Their willingness to provide access to the site and for their time in helping to run a professional and non bias trial over a prolonged period of time is greatly appreciated.

“Contractors should use RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix where long-term performance (> 24 month) is required.”

  • at 3 months: All four RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix repairs were still in place and performing well.

  • at 9 months: The RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix is still performing well, 9 months after it was laid. 2. Hot mix pothole repairs were failing all around the RSP cold mix trial repairs.

  • at 14 months: The RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix has worked well in the trial on a very difficult site with poor drainage, significant detritus and large numbers of Aggregate Trucks and should work well on road repairs. Some of the hot mix repairs constructed by others adjacent to the RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix repairs in the past 14 months have already failed and been repaired again.

  • at 21 months: The RSP ‘Road Patch’ cold mix repairs are still performing well 21 months after they were constructed. Most of the repairs constructed by others using hot mix asphalt and other products have failed at least once during the monitoring period.

  • at 24 months:

    • Road Patch performed well for 24 months after construction whether in water or in dry potholes on a high demand site without signs of failure.

    • Most of the surfacing adjacent to the repairs has failed at least once over the 24-month monitoring period.

    • Road Patch has performed better than hot mix asphalt patches and other pothole repair products used on the surrounding pavement.

    • Road Patch is the most innovative and most sustainable and environmentally friendly pothole repair mix on the New Zealand market that out performs all other pothole repair products including hot mix asphalt in wet and dry conditions.

In addition to the hard surface testing,

“RSP claims that ‘Road Patch’ cold mix works on gravel roads. Two trial patches have been constructed on a gravel driveway and after twenty four months they are still performing well.”
